Piedmont Park is the place. Skate Escape, 1086 Piedmont Ave. NE, at Twelfth Street (tel. 404/892-1292), is located close by. It offers all kinds of bicycles and skates for rent or sale, as well as helmets, bicycle locks, and accessories. You can also buy skateboards here. Conventional or in-line skates can be rented for $5 per hour, $15 per day; it's $6 per hour, $25 per day for a single-speed or children's bike. If you have an out-of-state driver's license, a major credit card is required for ID; or you can leave a deposit of $150 for skates, $250 for bikes. Skate Escape is open every day 11am to 7pm, and the folks here will give you good advice about routes through the park. MARTA: Midtown.
